Commercial Insurance

The Services We Offer:

  • Public & Products Liability

Any business can be thrown off course by major claims for compensation from members of the public. A personal injury sustained on a company’s premises or as a result of using its products can hit the bottom line heavily. Even defending an unjustified claim can be expensive. Under Public and Product Liability insurance, damage done to property is included in the cover as well as personal injury.

  • Employers Liability

Under the Employers’ Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act, most employers have a legal obligation to insure against liability for injury or disease caused to employees through their employment. The legal minimum level of cover, including costs, is £5 million. Bannerman Rendell offers employers’ liability cover of at least this sum to a diverse range of businesses at competitive premium rates.

  • Property

Commercial property and the uses to which it may be put can be so varied that virtually every situation is a one-off. Retail, office, leisure, industrial and other uses all have their particular risks that may also be affected by location. With access to the Lloyd’s market and other leading insurers, Bannerman Rendell is ideally placed to identify the right cover for most kinds of commercial property at a realistic price.

  • Business Interruption

Many companies have poorly structured Business Interruption cover or they underestimate the financial damage that can result from a natural or man-made disaster or supply chain dislocation. Losses arising from a break in business continuity often exceed those of direct damage to company property. Our experts can help to analyze the risks to which a specific business may be vulnerable.

  • Contractors All Risk

Flexibility is absolutely vital where Contractors’ All Risks insurance is concerned because no two contracts involve identical working environments with precisely the same mix of trades. Cover may incorporate employers’ and public liability as well as protection for the contract works, owned and hired-in plant and tradesmen’s tools. We can arrange cover for bricklayers, glaziers, electricians and many other trades.

  • Professional Indemnity (See Professional Indemnity Section for details and contacts)

For some professional businesses, including those seeking to be contractors or consultants to the government, Professional Indemnity insurance is compulsory. For others it is simply commercial common sense. The risk of an error leading to a costly claim is ever present, so cover of £5 million or more is normally recommended. Cover may even be arranged for work completed prior to policy commencement.

  • Directors & Officers

The wide range of responsibilities shouldered by company directors and officers is daunting and in discharging their duties in good faith they may face personal liability in relation to alleged data protection or health & safety breaches, discrimination of various kinds and wrongful trading. Recruiting, supervising and dismissing staff are among the day-to-day or occasional issues that may place directors at risk.

  • Money

Companies that hold or handle bulk cash or other valuable items, whether for themselves or third parties, need insurance for situations where agreed security arrangements are breached. We can arrange cover for financial institutions and others involved in holding the likes of cash, negotiable securities or precious metals in their vaults or who are responsible for their safe delivery, including to ATMs.

  • Residential Property Owners

The upsurge in buy-to-let property ownership in recent years has created a new generation of landlords in addition to established residential property investors. Some have bought just a handful of properties, while others own and manage blocks of flats. We cater for virtually all situations with cover that can include buildings, landlord’s contents and liability, and loss of rent, among a range of other options.

  • Motor Fleet

Managing a fleet of vehicles for business or personal use by your company’s employees is a massive responsibility and arranging suitable and reliable insurance cover for the fleet can be demanding. Our Motor Fleet insurance specialists can simplify the process by advising you on the cover options available for your vehicles and finding you the insurance your business needs to keep it on the road.

  • Commercial Vehicle

Insuring vehicles such as vans or trucks, or even road-going equipment including bulldozers and rollers, is an area in which we are able to serve a wide range of businesses. We can arrange cover for hauliers whose artic tractor vehicles may be called upon to tow trailers belonging to various third parties. A policy may include cover for vehicles that travel across Europe and sometimes even beyond.

  • Motor Trade

The risks associated with the Motor Trade are many and varied, the more so if servicing, MoT testing and body repairs are included in the business as well as vehicle sales. Cover may be needed for premises, vehicle stocks, tools & machinery, spare parts, fixtures & fittings, cash, liability and vehicles in transit. We can arrange competitive, flexible insurance for businesses that trade or repair vehicles, or both.

  • Personal Accident & Sickness

Loss of household income as a result of injury or illness can be a major problem, particularly where substantial mortgage repayments are involved. Yet many people overlook the consequences of prolonged absence from the workplace in the often mistaken belief that statutory sick pay and benefits will see them through. Cover may include a lump sum on accidental death or income for a period if ill or injured.

  • Group Travel

Arranging travel insurance collectively for a group of individuals travelling together has several advantages. It usually saves time and money as well as ensuring that everyone in the group is covered to a level agreed as appropriate through the group organiser. Bannerman Rendell is happy to arrange Group Travel insurance that covers eventualities such as cancellation, lost baggage and medical emergencies.

  • Engineering

All kinds of engineering projects introduce a wide spectrum of insurance risks in addition to the need to ensure that the basics such as plant and machinery are covered. Not all Engineering Insurance risks apply to every project, so it is important to have the facility to identify and arrange the necessary elements of cover. Electricity supply interruption and explosion risks are among the potential hazards to consider.

  • Marine & Cargo (See Marine Section for details and contacts)

The Lloyd’s market and Marine & Cargo insurance have been inextricably linked for centuries, whilst other major insurers have also entered the market. At Bannerman Rendell, we have a team of specialist Marine & Cargo brokers and claims managers to meet your specific needs, from ocean cargo and hull & machinery insurance through to charterer’s liability and worldwide all risk cover.

  • Goods In Transit (See Marine Section for details and contacts)

Domestic and commercial removal firms, couriers and hauliers of all kinds have varying requirements for Goods in Transit cover. Loss of some items may have financial consequences way beyond their intrinsic value, whilst damage to delicate computer equipment in transit can generate massive costs. Companies that transport their own goods may also need cover for UK, Europe or worldwide movements.

  • Binding Authority Agreements

In its capacity as a Lloyd’s broker, Bannerman Rendell has gained extensive experience of documenting, registering online and operating Binding Authority Agreements. Such agreements specify the extent of the delegated authority that allows cover-holders to enter into insurance contracts and issue insurance documents on behalf of Lloyd\'s managing agents.
