Although this leading insurance broker can trace its roots back to 1966, Bannerman Rendell Limited emerged in its present form in July 2007. This followed the purchase of John Bannerman Limited by Rendell & Partners Limited a few months earlier.
The takeover brought together two highly regarded companies. Rendell & Partners had earned an enviable reputation as a specialist supplier of professional indemnity and related insurances to accountants, solicitors and other professional firms.
John Bannerman Limited had been founded in 1966 as a Lloyd's broker and built expertise in various market segments, including cargo, stock and transit, property & liability, grounds maintenance and (trading as ForwardSure) freight forwarding.
The agreement to sell John Bannerman Limited broadly coincided with the retirement of company chairman Mr Greig Bannerman, son of the founder. The vendors wished to ensure that the strong family ethos of the firm would be maintained.
Concluding a sale to Rendell & Partners helped to safeguard this desired continuity, with the combined business benefiting from the knowledge and expertise of the respective teams of employees across a wide range of insurance classes.
